I am thrilled to share that I have been named to the 2024 Pro Bono Service Honor Roll by the Virginia Access to Justice Commission. This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the power and importance of pro bono work in our community especially by our friends at the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society.. Here's a glimpse into my journey towards this honor and the impact of pro bono services.

A Commitment to Service

From the moment I embarked on my legal career, I have been driven by a desire to make a difference.  The law can be a formidable tool for change, and I believe it is our responsibility as legal professionals to ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has access to justice. This conviction led me to actively seek opportunities to offer my services pro bono. 

Finding My Niche

I was fortunate when I started my career to be at a firm that valued pro-bono service.  Over the years, I have worked on a range of pro bono cases, including family law, housing rights, and domestic relations, and employment discrimination. Each case presented its own set of challenges, but they also offered immense satisfaction. Helping a someone navigate the complexities of eviction or a contested child custody matter has been incredibly rewarding.

Support and Inspiration

This recognition would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues, mentors, and the broader legal community. Their guidance and encouragement have been invaluable. Furthermore, the stories of resilience and courage from the clients I have served have been a constant source of inspiration.

Looking Ahead

Being named to the Pro Bono Service Honor Roll is a significant milestone, but it is also a reminder that there is still much work to be done. Access to justice remains a critical issue, and I am more committed than ever to continuing this work. I encourage my fellow legal professionals to consider how they might contribute their skills and time to this vital cause.
