About 8 years ago, I realized the obvious that I'm not getting younger and If I want to stay healthy I needed to become more active.  My wife purchased a bike for me and the obsession began.  The next year I conpleted (barely) a 58 mile charity bike ride.  My knees hurt, my rear hurt, I was exhausted, but I also felt immensely proud of myself for the accomptishment.  The following year I went bigger and signed up to ride 100 miles for the Heart of Virginia Century.  Unlike the 58 mile ride, I cruised across the finish line feeling great.  The following year I became a ride leader for a training program to help others reach their cycling goals.

Since then I've lost count of my long distance rides, but this one will always be a favorite.  Our firm is now a gold level sponsor. The event supports the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and Bikes for Kids.  Bikes for Kids provides about 500 bicycles and helmets to children in low income families every year.  The Brain Injury Association of Virginia helps people who have suffered serious brain injuries through trauma (car accidents, bicycle accidents, etc.) and medical injuries like strokes and oxygen deprivation.
