Increased Traffic Accidents on Tax Day By on April 16, 2012

A study by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found a correlation between paying taxes and fatal car accidents.  Well not exactly.  The study did not find that the payment of taxes was a direct cause of increased traffic accidents, but on tax day fatal car accidents go up by 6%.  The reasons are unknown.  It is speculated that added stress, NASCAR like sprints to get the return to the post office on time, and distractions all may play a role.  If you are, like many of us, rushing to get your return filed on time, please drive carefully to the post office.   Better yet efile and stay safe.
