Woman Sexually Assaulted in Hampton Nursing Home By on April 14, 2010

According to the Examiner, a resident of a Hampton, Virginia nursing home was sexually assaulted by another nursing home resident.  Reportedly, a witness saw him fondling the resident.  The information right now is quite limited so it is hard to tell whether the sexual assault was preventable.

Nursing homes have a legal obligation to take reasonable precautions to protect their patients.  Those precautions can range from checking the police sex offender registry when a resident is admitted or a new employee is hired to intervening when a patient exhibits inappropriate sexual behavior.
